ABOUT THE EVENT

“This program starts with an introduction of Yoshitomo Nara's artworks that are related to memories of youth, presented by art historian Yeewan Koon. Then Sakai will teach how to make chirashi zushi, a popular dish created with seasonal ingredients, to celebrate Japan's Children's Day in May. Sakai will explain the layering of multiple ingredients and flavors that makes this rice-based dish a favorite in Japan, and share her own fond childhood memories of chirashi zushi.

Presented in partnership with the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center in Los Angeles.”
