Workshop Details:
Join us for a special VIRTUAL cooking class hosted by Sonoko Sakai. During this class, we’ll work together to make fresh soba noodles from scratch, entirely by hand. Everything from blending and kneading, to rolling out an evenly thin, blemish-free dough, to hand-cutting into thin noodles, using the knife design expressly for it, a Soba Bocho.
Toshikoshi Soba is traditionally eaten on New Year's Eve to symbolize longevity and the cutting of the past year's hardships. Soba practice is a meditative, end-of-the-year exercise to restore your body and soul, making the noodles by hand and sharing them with the people you love. Toshikoshi (meaning "year-crossing") soba is the must-slurp detox noodle. It’s the symbol of longevity and good luck in Japan. Join me as a yoga practice. Or join me as a soba practice. You get both in one.
