“In good times and challenging times, Japanese curry is comforting and nourishing—a meal that cooks in Japan make at least once a week. Cooking this dish is a wonderful introduction to Japanese home cooking. Join Japanese culinary expert Sonoko Sakai for a workshop on making Japanese curry from scratch using her small batch, specially crafted curry powder. Together we’ll learn about the history of curry in Japan, how she developed her unique spice blend, and how eating this curry helps make the world a better place. We'll make classic Japanese white rice, a curry brick using Sonoko's curry powder, then a Japanese chicken curry using that brick. While the pot bubbles away we'll get to work on the ideal accompaniment for rich, hearty curry: a mix of pickled vegetables.”
